San Francisco

San Francisco is a totally different world.

Last week I was out in San Francisco for Health 2.0’s annual conference. As part of The Iron Yard Ventures, we were flown out to pitch the companies we built in the 13 weeks we were out in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

It was my second time visiting San Francisco, but it was the first time I really got to enjoy it and also get the feel for the startup world. My friend works for a local startup and inside the office space they rent, I was shocked to see big brands working there. In fact, LAUNCH, a festival where startups are revealed and “launch” have their offices located in the same floor.

Walking up and down San Francisco and seeing companies such as Spotify and ProductHunt in offices you’d never expect was really cool. My business partner and I got to visit the inside of Apple’s campus and to see the “startup culture” throughout them and other startups made us want to adopt it and bring it back to Houston.

It was a fun week in the wonderful San Francisco, but it’s time to get back to work and kick some ass to bring over some of that culture to Houston!
